Language Learning Beyond the Classroom

What it is

Entwin-ed connects students in New York City and Madrid through the shared language of art and creativity. Designed as a project-based learning experience, we invite students aged 14–16 to collaborate across cultures, exploring exhibitions, ideas, and conversations that deepen their understanding of both the target language (Spanish or English) and the arts.

Each term, participants work together in bilingual teams to reflect, create, and build — turning language learning into a living, collaborative act that bridges cities, disciplines, and perspectives.

How It Works

Each Entwin-ed project unfolds through three stages designed to foster connection, reflection, and creative expression across Spanish and English.

1. Entwin-ed Asks
It begins with connection. Entwin-ed pairs students from two cities based on shared interests, creativity, and language ability. Each partnership starts with listening, questioning, and discovering common ground.

2. Entwin-ed Reflects
Students then follow a personalized calendar of research and activities. The schedule guides them as they explore ideas, share reflections, and meet lightly on weekends — bridging time zones through thoughtful, flexible collaboration.

3. Entwin-ed Builds
Finally, partners create together. Drawing on their learning in both languages (Spanish and English) and the arts, they co-develop a creative piece — transforming conversation and reflection into something tangible and shared.
